Bleak was a fun Sprite to create, as she embodies the exact opposites of her sisters — color vs. no color, playful and fun vs. michevious and naughty.

While still very much part of the Sisterhood, Bleak has a bit of an edge to her, which is depicted below in one of our artist’s early illustrations.

Do you think this early version of Bleak accurately displays her mischievous nature?

This little guy has got some seriously sweet moves. Putting away the dishes may get you brownie points with mom and dad… but dancing up a storm gets you serious respect from the YouTube masses!

We saw this and loved his enthusiasm and creativity.

Sometimes, we all just need to zone in and dance like no one is watching.

Do your kids have any fun, quirky things that they like to do?

When designing the special Lite Wand, our superb artists wanted to ensure that it conveyed a fun sense of magic and nature.

We wanted to have the Lite Wand look like it fit perfectly Lite-Topia, and carry a magical quality to make it really stand out.

Here are some early concept illustrations from our designers.

What do you think? Do you feel the magical qualities in the Lite Wand?

WowWee is an innovative and energetic place to work, with new ideas and products zipping by our product developers almost daily!

There is a noticeable air of enthusiasm in the office, that comes directly from one of its founders – Richard Yanofsky.

We snagged him for a quick interview for his views on toys and the history that brought WowWee to where it is today.

Q: What is your favorite WowWee product?

RY: I would have to say Robosapien. [It was our first big hit and I remain loyal to it today.]

Q: Which item or items from recent product lines do you feel are the coolest?

RY: [I think all our toys this year are amazing, but I especially] love Lite Sprites. I think there is a lot of play, empowerment and it’s very immersive for a little girl.

Q: When WowWee was started in 1988, did you envision/imagine the company veering in this direction?

RY: Yes I always felt that we were out-of-the-box thinkers and although we always gravitated to the gadget/cool/toy space we were consistently focused on being original.

Q: Where do you feel the future of WowWee is heading?

RY: [I feel like we're going] towards establishing more of a direct relationship with the consumer, which inevitably will have an impact on the type of product we develop. I additionally see us delving into areas that take advantage of technology in practical applications.

Q: Do you consider WowWee to be ‘just a toy company’?

RY: I think that WowWee has historically developed product with a “toyetic” approach, however, the toy industry as we once knew is completely different. The extreme pressure that technology, more specifically the electronic gaming experience supplied by both the platforms of console and mobile have forever changed the way consumers interact with product. This compression finds most toy manufacturers looking to develop product for a younger age group at cheaper prices. Consequently, I don’t feel that the resources that this company has are best served catering exclusively to the toy industry.

Q: Where does WowWee get its innovative toy ideas?

RY: Over the years we have created a vast network of resellers, inventors, buyers, engineers, joint ventures, vendors, licensors/licensees, etc…in several countries throughout the world. To me this is one of the company’s biggest assets, something that we are always looking to take advantage of. I also think that the pulse of the company is centered around innovation and we are always looking to take different approaches from disparate industries in an effort to cobble together product. We are more than ever, sensitive to making products that deliver a clear, concise payoff to a user.

We had an absolute blast working with creative studio School of Humans on our Light Strike Arena series.

Here’s a snippet from their post on the exciting adventure with Light Strike:

“Check out our awesome new animated and interactive web series, Light Strike Arena, which we created around the newly-launched Light Strike Assault Strikers by WowWee. This is a multifaceted web adventure. Since the video is interactive, viewers are able to choose the direction of the story at the end of each segment. Plus, we’ve also created an entire transmedia experience around the story, which will be launching over the next couple of weeks. So keep following the story as it unfolds on Facebook.”

Don’t forget to check out the Light Strike Arena Vault, where you’ll find Connor’s diary entries, Magnificent’s voice portal and much, much more!

Need an edge in your Light Strike battles?

You can give your team a tactical advantage by gearing up with Assault Striker attachments to increase your range, take out enemies with super ammo or grenades, and scan for enemies.

Rapid Fire System (RFS)
A powerful tool for close-quarter combat, the Rapid Fire System can mow down enemies with a burst of rapid-fire super ammo. Combine the RFS with the Scope for access to its long-range weapon styles and to switch between being a machine gunner and sniper. An RFS and Enemy Scanner combo lets you do more damage and lowers shield recharge time.

Refractor Launch System (RLS)
If another team is closing in on you, you can take out multiple enemies with one mega-blast from the Refractor Launch System. Add the Scope to fire on enemies using its long-range weapon styles or combine with the Enemy Scanner for increased damage and lower shield recharge time.

Scope
The Scope equips two exclusive long-range weapon styles (Optic Strike and Refractor Strike) and increases the Assault Striker’s range so you can take out enemies without being spotted. Perfect for the role of sniper. Combining it with the RLS or RFS gives you access to those attachments’ weapon styles and adds recoil action.

Enemy Scanner
With the Enemy Scanner, you can detect enemy movement and get them before they get you. Aside from getting the jump on opposing teams, you’ll increase damage from all five of the Assault Striker’s built-in weapon styles and lower the shield recharge time. Attach an RFS or RLS for extra firepower.
